The Ale and Lager Enthusiasts of Saskatchewan are hosting the NHC Canadian Regional Qualifier/ALES Homebrew Open competition from April 12th to 17th, 2010 at the Bushwakker Brewpub in Regina, Saskatchewan. Not only is this the largest competition in Canada, but it is the only way for Canadians to advance to the National Homebrew Competition, which is the largest homebrew competition in the world. Additionally, any medals won will earn you points towards the all-new Canadian Brewer of the Year award.
The competition is open to all 28 BJCP categories of homebrewed beer, mead and cider. Medals and prize packages are awarded to Gold, Silver and Bronze winners in each category. Prize packages consist of a wide variety of donated items from our many sponsors.
The major awards are:
Best of Show – Awarded to the single best beer entry. The Best of Show prize is the opportunity to brew one of your recipes at the Bushwakker Brewpub!
Homebrewer of the Year – based on total points earned from category medals (entries must score a minimum of 30 points to count towards HoY)
Mead Maker of the Year – Awarded to the single best mead entry
