To successfully run one of the largest homebrew competitions in Canada we need a group of dedicated volunteers to steward the hundreds of beers home brewers from across the country submit each year.
That’s where you come in. Each beer needs to be sorted, resorted then pulled from the cellar, warmed to the appropriate temperature and then opened, poured, and delivered to the judges each night in a timely, quiet, and efficient manner. The competition couldn’t happen without our dedicated stewards.
If you’ve stewarded before you know it’s a great way to be introduced to a wide variety of beer styles you might not be able to get at local retail outlets. It’s also a great way to get involved with the club and get to know your fellow ale and lager enthusiasts. If you’ve never stewarded before, don’t fret, it’s an easy job providing you’ve opened and drank a beer before.
Stewarding is primarily open to members of the ALES club. We do appreciate the help of anyone wanting to volunteer so if you are a beer geek (or spouse of a beer judge) in town that week or are the friend/relative of a member who wants to learn more we’d be happy to have you come out.
